"when i went to retrieve you, general, you were..." the clone captain clears his throat and hastens to solidify his awkward facial expression with one of more nuance, more outward professionalism. he's usually quite good at that, but this is a special case. "... you were occupied, sir." the clone's eyes dart left to right, not sure if his word choice is appropriate for the situation. "i did knock," rex continues, hesitant as he tightens his tone. "twice. but you were... on a call." with senator amidala. he leaves that part out. "if you would like me to recount the briefing with you, sir, i can do that. the matter is mostly resolved, but there were problems breaking the separatist blockade. i believe general kenobi wanted to discuss options with you, as you may have some better ideas. his forces cannot hold the separatists for long." the faster rex escapes the more sensitive part of this discussion, the better. though the two have a somewhat silent understanding between them, rex still hates lingering anywhere near that space... for anakin's sake, of course. better to be oblivious than hyperaware and ask too many questions. "is everything all right, sir?" that's the extent of his asking — and it's surface-level, too, just the way both of them like it. it covers the bases. "would you like me to... contact general kenobi for you?"
