"The Six of Antwerp" made up of Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene and Marina Yee is an avant-garde collective of Belgian fashion designers who graduated from Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the 1980s under Linda Loppa's eye (head of fashion department). In 1986 - the fashion gang loaded its clothes into a truck and showed up in London where they created a sensation with the audacity of their presentations. As they could not pronounce the designer's names, they just started calling them the "Antwerp Six". The "+" refers to Martin Margiela but also Raf Simons, Vandervorst.. alongside photographers, make-up artists like @ingegrognard, @ronaldstoops, @peterdepotter - who also strenghtened the impact of Antwerp fashion image.
