Let Go and Let God
I often read the UCBÂ âWord for Todayâ and find words of wisdom and comfort. The New Yearâs Eve entry was one that really resonated with me and I felt that, as we enter a new year, there may be some of you who also need to hear these words.....
UCB Word for Today Let go, and let God 31 DECEMBER 2020 âGive your burdens to the LORDÂ Â âPsalm 55:22 NLTÂ
Are you burdened about someone you love? Have your efforts to help them failed? Let go, and let God deal with them! Letting go doesnât mean you stop caring; it just means you canât do it for them. Letting go isnât about cutting yourself off; itâs about realising you didnât cause the problem, and you canât cure it, and you canât control it. Itâs about letting others learn from their consequences. Itâs admitting that this time the outcome is not in your hands. Itâs not about blaming or trying to change the other person; but having the wisdom to recognise you can only change yourself. Itâs âcaring aboutâ, instead of âcaretakingâ. Itâs being supportive without trying to fix them, and instead of judging, allowing them to be a human being. Letting go means instead of wading into the middle and trying to control every possible outcome, you allow others to affect their own outcomes. Instead of hovering and being overprotective, itâs about permitting them to face reality. Itâs about accepting instead of denying. And rather than nagging, scolding, and arguing, learning to work on your own shortcomings. Letting go means instead of trying to adjust everything to your own desires, you take each day as it comes and cherish each moment. It means instead of criticising and regulating, you learn to focus on the purpose to which God has called you. It means not looking back with regret on the past, and focusing instead on growing and living for the future. Letting go is about fearing less and loving more. The word for today is â let go, and let God!
Happy New Year one and all, letâs hope and pray it is a year of new beginnings, great opportunities, kindness and most of all, the return of the hug!
