Hello!
I've been tinkering around with my Adafruit Experimentation Kit for Arduino and it makes me so happy. I have been meaning to get into the "maker culture" and get my hands dirty for a long while and the ARCH 506: Responsive Surfaces class has finally given me the opportunity and push to get started. In here, I will keep a journal of all the architecture / interactive surfaces / installations and whatever else that inspires me. I am mainly interested in interactive public street and museum installations as they engage people in user experiences beyond the usual. For an upcoming internship in India, my team is tasked with building a museum installation focusing on the stone and wood work of the Hampi region, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site... serving also as the title of the blog! Ideally, the final project for this class will directly feed into the internship - - ideally. Can't wait!
Hello, Arduino. I'm very glad to finally play with you.
Starting...
The word "responsive" is the main reason why I chose this course. I am interested in the interaction between physical objects and human behaviors, as well as the principal mechanism behind them. Besides, I would like to try to transfer information data from surrounding environment into architectural spatial experience. So understanding the basic technologies (which are Arduino and Processing here), and then trying to manipulate them for an interactive device or installation are my main goals in this course.
