Ever met someone with TWO BUTTS?! Now you have! This little leghorn hen, Little Love, was rescued from a battery cage egg farm in 2017. At a 18 months old she was considered “spent” and saved from gassing to be brought to permanent sanctuary at Blackberry Creek. While birds typically have one “vent” which functions both to release waste and lay eggs, Little Love has two! She was quite the exciting patient at @medicalcenterforbirds this week where she is being treated for an ovarian obstruction, a condition quite common for hens whose bodies have been exploited by the egg industry. This is exactly where your donations to the sanctuary go... to help animals like Little Love have the best possible medical care after they are rescued from horrendous conditions. At her visit she got an ultrasound to identify the obstructed ovary, a hormone implant to stop ovulation, and antibiotics and anti- inflammatories to minimize infection and prepare her body for surgery (likely 4-6 weeks from now). We are so grateful for all of our supporters who give generously so that animals who need help have no financial obstacles in the way of exemplary veterinary cate. THANK YOU and stay tuned to keep up with her journey. ♥️ #twobuttsarebetterthanone #littlelove #rescuedhens #loveoneanother #veganforher #veterinariansrock #thankyou #friendnotfood #hensofinstagram #rescuedhen #savedfromslaughter #eggindustrysurvivor #chickensofig #chickencare #chickenlovers #sweetgirl #sanctuarylife #farmanimalsanctuary #animalrescue #blackberrycreek #farmsanctuary #veterinarymedicine #veterinarylife #veterinaryanatomy #vetschool #likebobsburgers #twobuttedgoat @bobsburgersfox (at Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ4CSQpsqbv/?igshid=1jo635ehn4da4
