I don't think I ever actually shared the reroots I did this past month. I mean, I still don't LIKE rerooting but I found the milksilk to be far less horrible than nylon in terms of how it didn't get in my mouth, my eyes, all over me quite so much. Knots comb out of it a lot easier because it's sort of slippery. Anyway, Neon Frights Frankie I opted to forgo the black and just go with white with a streak at the back of blue. By chance it turns out the blue I blended for Abbey was the EXACT same shade of blue as Frankie's eyeshadow which was awesome. Now, because this hair is a lot thinner than the original poly the doll does have some thinner spots but there's not really any space to throw in extra plugs so i've just styled around it. I'll take a few thinner patches at the scalp over awful poly any day. Abbey's hair is a blend of two blues to make this pretty shade with some purple/lavender streaks. I also gave her a rainbow high top and coat because I really really dislike her original shirt and honestly, the "cold shoulder" design of this top (sadly hidden by the coat) is too good a fashion pun for me not to want to use it. COME ON Mattel! Anyway, I really like this shade on her. I was worried it might be too close to her skintone but I think it works and gives a nice frosty effect. White I found a little too stark, though perhaps i'll do one in white at some later point. I dunno. I bought a secondhand Garden Mysteries Venus tonight because i've been wanting her for ages but refuse to buy her new because that's just encouraging Mattel's polypropylene bullshittery and I refuse to pay full price for a doll I have to fix. But i'm now pondering hair options. Someone on reddit harvested some of the nylon braids off an LOL OMG doll and used them and that works pretty well. I have a fair few OMG dolls in my stash because I like their hair and clothes, so... arguably, if I could repurpose the hair that could be a win. This person used Virtuelle who has a sort of fushia pinkish purple tone of hair, but I was also considering Sways who has significantly longer hair for a start (so more to work with) and has a nice bright green and a very very vivid pink. I think i'll wait for Venus to get here, then find both dolls and see which colour I think works better. Certainly using dolls I already have or that I can easily find for cheap seems a more viable option than buying hair. I mean the two UK stockists have got very little stock and ordering from overseas is bloody expensive. But yeah. I don't hate rerooting as much as I once did. But I still don't particularly enjoy the mess it makes and cleaning it all up afterwards.
