As a queer kid who was also obsessed with sappy romcoms with happy endings, red white and royal blue healed something in me that i didn't know was broken. I've seen many projects starring queer people that I love and adore with my entire being, heartstopper being the perfect representation, young royals being the perfect drama and other projects with little montages in them. But this. The book was one of my favourites anyway. But the movie did something else to me. It was sappy. Romcom ish. And that was absolutely what 14-15 year old me would have killed for. I wish younger me was here to watch this. There've been many projects to raise awareness on queer people, but to have a real sugary romcom with drama is everything I didn't know I needed. Thank you Casey McQuinston. Thank you.
