I can’t imagine what a whole book about Aiden and Jace would be about. They’re really solid, so I can’t see a book’s worth of drama for them. However, there’s going to be an anthology of novellas featuring the Queens crew--tentatively called Citywide--and they’re going to be in that one. So are Tonya and Mere.

Heh. I didn’t order it when it was released because I knew I wouldn’t get to it anytime soon.

Kind of wishing I started with a different book of hers because after this, I’m not at all motivated to try any of her other work.

Actually, I saw Honestly Ben first and then saw that it was part of a series. I hesitated because I kind of want to jump around and if I start a series, I’ll probably want to keep going if I like it, but it’s whatever now, I just added Openly and will make the decision when I get to it.

Ah! I put Openly Straight on my list this morning, though, I’m a little iffy about it. Just looked up The Star Host and it seems interesting, so I’ve added it to my list, too. Vaguely remembered How to Repair a Mechanical Heart, so I looked that up as well. From the synopsis on Amazon, it reminded me of Megan Erickson’s Trust the Focus. Then I really looked at the cover and even that was similar. How to came out three years before Trust, so now I absolutely must read it to see just how alike they actually are.

Though I haven’t read it yet, Love in the Time of Cholera was my encounter with him some years ago. Chronicle of a Death Foretold is now on my list, but it will be a while before I get to it because it’s not available as an audiobook yet.

One of the things I dislike is how the kids disappear at the end. Someway, somehow, the father/uncle/family/friend no longer has to take responsibility for the kid. They are magically free to live there new life with out the hindrance. As much as I loved Sakuragi’s Hide and Seek, the ending lost a bit for me because of the result of the custody thing at the end. On the flipside, the sort of reverse of that in Asou’s Only Serious About You was done to my satisfaction. Even though I prefer to keep kids out of the stories--more specifically, prominent roles (Narasaki’s nephews in Ichikawa’s Blue Sky Complex are fine)--if they’re going to be in there, I don’t want them to used and disposed of at the end.

I definitely feel that. I have a suspicion that they might go the route of “Viktor kissed Yuri just to surprise him and its ok because he’s a foreigner, but they’re still just ~friends~” I hope that doesn’t happen, but it might and there’s certainly precedent for that :(
