#repulser

Was able to get the Primaris Repulser tank all finished up. Not too bad, though not ideal. The plan for next week is getting all of the characters painted up.

So I pretty much started over on the Repulser. Decided I'd rather have that $80 tank looking better/matching the army than rushing it to get a single bonus point in the campaign for having it painted this weekend. Not that I ain't going to still try and have it painted. Actually make a huge amount of progress on it for having repainted over the entire thing. Got its blacks done, which I changed what areas I was coloring black to help alleviate the mottling issue somewhat on the largest flat surfaces. Also a good start on the metals with all the grav plates done. May get it done in time yet. To that end though I slacked on the gunship. Only did the blacks on one engine, though I did finish its base while doing the Repulser's base.

While I was expecting this, it's still kind of annoying. The method I prefer for painting, namely lots of wash over basecoats, works great for smaller detailed figures it doesn't give nearly as good of results on large flat surfaces. Without crevasses and such to flow around and into it can tend to just pool somewhat randomly which results in a more mottled appearance on the tank. It got a second coat of wash to help even it out, so it'll also be a bit darker than everything else. The gunship has much less unbroken flat space and overall came out much better however. Will try to get the blacks and metals done tomorrow. Not looking forward to those grav plates. Since the bases are separate I also got those base coated and textured so I can hopefully get them washed as well without waiting for that hold up.
