I've read enough good omens fanfics that now I automatically gender God as a She, and I think that's beautiful.

Appreciation, not an ask. I follow your blog because of representation. I have fallen in love with your depiction of Halle and Liam. POC love, but most importantly, a functional and healthy POC depiction of love. As a Black woman, I love being able to see myself reflected in Halle. Lastly, you filled in gaps in the cannon with the realities of what it means to be a Black woman (thinking about race conversations, how washing our hair is different). You do not shy away from the real. Thank you!
Thank you for sending this @blackcoffee85. I know it took me a while to respond, but I wanted to take my time. (Also, a bitch just moved. It’s gonna be a mood for my postings…JSYK)
I am really thankful for you noticing and appreciating the thought I put into writing Halle and Liam (and other POCs when I am not writing those two). I started writing fanfic again (I used to do it when I was a teen) because I wanted content with specificity when writing about how a Black MC would operate in The Royal Romance or BloodBound. I wanted to write that because I wanted to read it.
The MC as written in the book is meant to have gaps because the idea is you create the person you want in the story. You help build that character. I just take mine and expand even more.
I try to be very deliberate in my choices for how I write both Halle as an American Black woman and Liam as a European Asian man. I want to read stories about a Black woman is desirable and an object of desire but not fetishized. I like to think I have done that for Halle.
I didn’t want to her to be this put-upon mule that just has to suffer in the name of uplifting her man. I wanted her relationship to be genuine and uplifting to Halle as well as Liam. I still want them to struggle. No one is perfect, not even Liam. Every relationship has its ups and downs. They have theirs. Their struggles, fights, highs, lows and the like is what makes them real. They have the tough talks, they talk about capital “R” race. They are an interracial couple that operates outside of “whiteness” in a lot of ways, mainly that they both experience racism and have to work through that.
I think about a lot of these things as I write because its catharsis for me. It’s how I deal with things. I want whoever reads my work to relate but not be retraumatized or triggered but I don’t want to scrub away those realities either.
Again, I want to thank you for the message and the things you said. It really touched me and I wanted you to know that.
saw a post today that made me so genuinely upset that i considered unfollowing the person that rb'd it. i'm sure it was meant to be silly but it just continues a really disappointing and genuinely hurtful trend in media.

Your 16.6.17 line drawing of the girl made me incredibly happy. I saw body-posi art that actually looked like me. Thank you so much for making my horrible day a little better
i’m glad i was able to make your day a little brighter, this means a lot to me!
Seeing Doomfist (from Overwatch) and Marina (from Splatoon 2), both really good dark-skinned characters, made me really happy for the week. I'm gonna throat punch next person who says "why does it matter what skin colour they are?"
i never asked you to stop posting about it all i said is that the people on floriana's tag already know about all this story because people like you won't shut up about it and we're not there to read all your answers about it that you tag under her name for some reason but it's cool no worries you're right i can just block you i just thought it was worth it trying diplomacy first.
people like me? you mean people who should care about whitewashing a woc character that could have gone to an actual latinx actress?? people are cheering for floriana because her and chyler are saying representation matters, but we have one actress who is white, playing a role that shouldnt have gone to her, and she shouldnt have accepted in the first place. so yeah, u can block me because i sure as hell wont shut up about this as you pointed out :)
