Damaged Goods [AU]
The moon hangs on high on the night sky, looming over the city with subtle rays of light cascading in through cracks in the concrete jungle, effectively painting a false thread of hope in the suffocating darkness lurking in the streets and in people's hearts. It was all kinds of poetic if one mulled over human nature and such in the wee hours of the day, and since he had little means to entertain himself until awaited target arrived the man found himself chasing after thoughts better left to those who had desire and option to change course in their dull life.
Tatsuya's life was hardly dull, but meaningless all the same. 'Protecting Japan's medical establishment by your hand' was such utter bullshit, one he had fallen for if only for playing off ignorance and accepting the policy of The Union by desperately needing to find some form of release from the hell his mind had spiraled into after the war. The world was full of ugliness spilling over and crawling at your skin so clear on sight yet these foolish work class families cared to see none of it, acting as if it was nonexistent and believing this true with an easy aversion of eyes.
It should have made him angry, would have years ago when he still carried ideals and an urge for fighting for something better, for himself, for someone, for anything-- hoping to yield a result. There was no righteousness that served for your own selfish desires, he understood that now. Wouldn't pretend otherwise.
Jingle of keys alerted him, ears perked up as the male pushed himself up from the floor he had positioned himself at, directly under the window with curtains drawn open to reveal a starless sky far in the distance. One roll of shoulders to work out the surface kinks out of back muscles Tatsuya bends down to pick up his suitcase, silver and heavy, and turns in place to greet the man entering the apartment, waiting until he's flicked lights on and made it through to the living room.
"Imayoshi-san. You were quite hard a man to find." Faint quirk of lips into a smile, barely showing on his features.
