It will make it easier to reply to replies, but it's still not "easy."
Now that you have that installed, you can reply to replies! But now you have to go to the post itself and click on the reply in the drop down notes. There's an invisible button that lies next to the "block/ignore" button. The only way you can find it is by using your cursor as a sort of divining rod. When it makes the little highlight glovey cursor where it really has no business to be unless there's a button there, cick on it, and there should be another tab that opens with the reply you want to reply to.

Reply fix and Tumblr Savior fix
For anyone wondering, in order to be able to copy/paste Tumblr replies, and to be able to read Tumblr Savior text, I installed the Chrome extension Stylish and added the following css for tumblr.com:
.notification_sentence { -webkit-user-select: text; cursor: text; }
.tumblr_savior a { color: rgba(255, 255, 255, .43); }
(The "reply fix" instructions that are going around didn't work for me. This method works, but I have to copy/paste one reply at a time and not select userpics in order for it to look nice.)
in case you're still confused about replies with the new notifications, here's a short tutorial for chrome/firefox users that should make things easier (at least until missing e/xkit update their codes):
install the stylish extension for your browser (if you use chrome, follow this link and click "add to chrome"; if you use firefox, follow this link and install stylish).
once you've installed stylish, go to this link and click "install with stylish".
make sure the script is now enabled on stylish: chrome users, click the stylish icon in the upper right-hand corner of your browser (next to the web address bar) and check that the title in the pop-up box is black and bolded. firefox users, click the greasemonkey icon in the upper right-hand corner of your browser and open "manage add-ons", click the "user styles" tab on the left side and check the script.
refresh tumblr.
when you get a reply, go to your "posts" tab on your dashboard and click the the little box with the number of notes on the upper right-hand side of the post. the notes for that post should drop down beneath it.
find the reply you want to put in a new post and click the speech bubble on the right side of the note.
a new tab should open with the reply pasted into a post, like it used to be!
