Reni fic written before acts 11 and 12 came out! Mostly platonic since it’s about Reni’s relationships with Mankai and God Troupe, but has onesided Reni/Yukio !!! 3364 words!

Summary: Reni is not a member of Mankai Company, and hasn’t been since God Troupe’s beginning. An origin born of hatred though it may have been, it’s still Reni’s.

Reni burns to a crisp. He is the ugly outer shell of beauty, raw with anger and light, too far from heaven to call himself one of them. His smile is of the same type; too contained to be beautiful. His anger is, at the start of things, focused on Yukio alone.

His love is the same way, though.

Syu watches this with a type of unease not quite used to him. They’ve known each other too long to not know how the other looks when they’re angry, burning inside. Syu has always burned in the wrong way from Reni; a splitting of paths here and there, but always reuniting, the fires rejoining together.

So Syu doesn’t feel bad when Reni comes to his house—almost but not quite at a time too late to be reasonable—and apologizes for the late hour. Reni’s eyebrows are twisted in disgust.

“What is it this time?” Syu asks.

“Yukio,” Reni says, and that’s how it always is. Reni has let go of that man more or less in name only; Syu doesn’t know why. Reni tells him of long walks in a foreign country—Syu pretends to understand. Maybe he’d understand if it was him and Reni, instead.

Syu doesn’t bring that up; doesn’t mention the things Reni tells him half-drunk, but not enough to say anything he’d truly regret. “You’re going to have to be more specific than that.”

Reni seats himself in his usual spot. “We were on the phone,” he starts.

If it was Reni’s stupid, childish feelings for Yukio that caused this time loop, he doesn’t want to make everything worse by ignoring it.
