ReNamer and how I use it
Hey, guys, so I’ve been using ReNamer for quite some time now, as I found about it out through reading @sims3tutorialhub Tagging it, because it’s such an awesome page that I think deserves recognition and you should check it out. Below are my thoughts about this program.
What I learned is that having spaces and special characters in the names of your packages slows down your game (maybe it’s obvious and I’m just a dummy), so I downloaded this program and it took a while for me to figure out how to use the rules thingy, but I think I came up with something reasonable eventually. HERE is a screenshot of my rules (tried posting it on Tumblr, but you can’t see anything when I do).
What my rules do is they delete all special characters (or at least those I listed that I found in my files), then put spaces in front of capital letters, as well as delete multiple spaces, and finally replace those spaces with the “_” character, which is said to be “safe”. The spaces rule is just because I find the files easier to read this way.
And I thought maybe it could help someone, so I decided to upload the preset I use. Download it HERE. Some installation instructions below.
Once you install ReNamer, you can just dump the file into a folder called Presets (for me, it can be found under Documents\den4b\ReNamer\Presets). Then you will have to load the preset in the menu each time you start the program, afterwards just point to the right folders and let it do its job. Fairly simple.
