"Charmed, Iām sure." Hiremwen muttered dubiously, before smiling. "I might be able to repay the favour if you showed your face, pet."

ā°āā® Drunk, of course. Or maybe not...
Hiremwen chuckled, before smirking at Aren. āI think youāve had a bit too much to drink, pet. We'd better get you upstairs before you say something even more ridiculous.ā
ā„
Send me a āā„ā for my museās reaction to yours crawling onto the bed, trying to be seductive.
Hiremwen groaned, still feeling the effects of theĀ ridiculous amount of alcohol sheād had last night. Turning over to avoid the sunlight streaming in from the window, she nearly screamed.
Aren was lying in her bed. Naked.
Mercifully (or not), it seemed as though he had not long been thereā¦so last night wasnāt as much of a disaster as her addled imagination had feared.
Wrath
āYa know what makes me really angry? When lordlings and kings can steal from the ordinary folkāwho donāt have enough fer themselves in the first place, scraping by constantlyāto line their pockets, and theyāre seen as āgood rulersā and I steal (ācause thatās what it is, I know that) from them in return, to liveā¦and Iām an abomination. I mean, we knew that anyway, but it shouldnāt be a crime to want to live. Of course, I shouldnāt have to resort to what I do in the first place, but thatās a whole different issueā¦youāll have to get me another drink if you want that story.ā

It had been hard--fucking hard, one could say--but eventually, they finished. Hiremwen looked up at the roof of her grandparent's cottage and smiled. She'd been meaning to thatch it for a long time, but always found excuses - with Hal, there was no room for that. The final straw had been when he called her a coward - he still had a scratch-mark near his eye for bringingĀ that particular nugget of wisdom to the table.
She'd been thinking for a while that it might be nice to move back up here for a while - no people, for a start. But it was soĀ domestic, and the thought made her repress a shiver. No. Before settling down, she had to move on. Bree was getting old by now.
"I'll fetch something for dinner, and bring it up. Take a break, princess." She couldĀ not bring herself to say thank you. That would have been a step too far.

(Icebreaker meme) "You smell like cinnamon."
Hiremwen froze slightly, trying to place the unfamiliar voice - failing, she turned, and looked the stranger up-and-down.
"Iāve been making mulled wine - it should be ready by now, if youād care to join me. Iāve made enough to provide for anĀ army, so the inn wonāt be missing much.ā She smiled what sheĀ hopedĀ was a welcoming smileā¦but then, it had been a long time since sheād been required to do so.
"Do you want to help me make some mulled wine?"
"Do you seriously think weāll have any left to sell to the inn ifĀ you get involved in making it?ā Hiremwen teased lightly, before moving to get the spices.
"You can if you want - youāll have to buy some sugar."
@amanofmyown: Red String of Fate
Result = 37:Ā Our muses are destined to do jail time together
The hours passed like days, the days like years. There were times when the time flew ā the pair laughed, recounted past heists, and were happy. There were others when they had to be forcibly separated, for genuine fear of the damage they could do to each other. And then there were those horrid times in which they just sat in their forced companionship, frozen in silence.
They were partners, yes. They hadnāt chosen each other ā it often seemed as though they had been thrown together as a practical joke. But, joke or no, they were a good team ā they both hesitated to use the term interdependent ā that would have made it too clinical. What mattered was that they had each otherās backā¦for the moment.
