Repression in psychology means that defense process that moves away from the conscious level those desires or memories that going against the rules imposed by the Superego are INTOLERABLE.
Khalil Gibrain said "Forgetfulness is a form of freedom". And we have Liberty Inn, in THOB, an episode where the repression mechanism is explicitly told.
