See, today is in memory of the best known D-Day (the day on which a combat attack or operation is to be initiated) or also called Normandy landings (June 6th 1994, World War II).
And I know Donut Day is holiday which finds place on every first Friday of June, which is today and is also coincidentally the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. And maybe I understood the whole Tumblr staff concept wrong. But here is where I drew a line:

Donut Day and D-Day are not connected but yes, we do remember their sacrifice. And by "their" I don't mean the donuts. On the first day of June 6th 1994, there where at least 12.000 Allies, of whom 4.414 were confirmed dead within 24 hours. A lot of soldiers sacrificed their lives in the Normandy Landings; they fought and lost their lives.
But now comes the big question: Why would both Tumblr and Google hide the fact that today is D-Day and turn it into something else? - Tumblr turned it into Donut Day and Google turned it into Honinbo Shusaku's 185th birthday. Maybe they're self not aware of the fact, that today is D-Day and just reminded everyone it was Donut Day, but people shouldn't forget what really happened on this day.
It seems as if everyone is overlooking D-Day. I think they should at least post something about it, out of respect, in memorial of those who died today, back in World War II.
So, yes, "thank you", Tumblr.
