How do you feel about genetic engineering in regards to it's use on food and livestock as a solution to hunger?
Im for it. It truly isnt as huge of a deal as many people speculate, no sort of mass poisoning or sci-fi mutations will be taking place. In most cases its small, controlled, and non-detrimental changes like getting cows to emulate human milk, or get tomatoes to stop producing an enzyme that causes them to rot so quickly and confers no benefit to the tomato otherwise.
in my honest (and not bio-chemist) opinion, we kinda dont need gm food. We make and produce enough to feed plenty and end hunger but there is a huge thing with fruits & veggies being aesthetically pleasing over their actual taste and freshness and stuff. Lots of food gets thrown into landfills (and not even into the hands of those who are starving) because of this sense of thought.
(as well as alot of food being thrown out in many restaurants due to safety hazards and codes. Due to alot of idiot teenagers and assholes youre not allowed to feed the homeless, as many would actively take advantage of the hungry and poison them as their sick way of βpurgingβ the city. So we HAVE to throw it out or take it homeβ¦.cant even donate to food banks, but i digress)
TL;DR :: gm food is cool and wont hurt you or cause ill effects and lowkey helps alot and is a viable and somewhat ethical solution to hunger.
