How to Get Over with your X
Nope, this is not How to Get Away with Murder, but YES, itâs the X. Or ex. Either way. Truth is, you can always find x in the alphabet, in math problems, or in real life situation. Yeah, you got what I mean. And yes, I am pertaining to the past relationship or ships youâve got. And yes, there are steps or process on getting over them, which I think, on personal experience, applies to me, and I hope to yours, too. Anyway, thank you for reading my lengthy introduction, but I hope youâre and will still be reading though. So, there are actually a lot of ways, well, tons of ways, from anyways, highways or any other ways. But the bottom line here, it will always be you who will decide, in getting over someone you loved so much or less or you did not loved after all. I am no expert in relationships here, for I, too, had experience failed relationships. But in a way, at least it could help as you go through the process of getting over with someone.
(Took a photo of this shop at Central World, Bangkok from last year as it has been very significant for this blog post. So... FREE ME)
1. Cry. Yes, cry! It helps a lot. Even if you think you are that strong enough, or you are independent enough to leave him or her, you will eventually... cry. If not, then, you did not loved that person. There were and are research about it, that crying helps ease the pain. Yes, itâs true. But once you experience it (the break up thing), you will definitely cry. Hello?! Youâre only human. Unless youâre a robot or you did not actually love him or her (as I have said from the previous sentence). But the point here, is that you cry. At most, itâs a way to release everything, the anger, the struggles, or whatever negativity that you could think of at the moment. Crying is worth it. Not because of that person, but because it is for yourself.
2. Call a Friend or Family Members. Yes, A friend or a family member is so far the best rescue when you are in need. Talk to them. Ask for advises. Theyâre the best advisers yet. Pray and ask for help from above. However, if you are not a believer of something, better just go to your family and friends. If it doesnât work, then call an expert on handling relationships, but I donât know, I think, nobody is or does, except you, who will eventually handle the situation. Duh!
3. Remove the Unnecessary. Yes, remove! Like, totally trash everything from the past. The flowers, the teddy bears, love letters or whatever the things your ex gave you, remove the things that remind you of them. Hello, weâre talking of getting over here, so we should start something new. Unless itâs an expensive material (if you are into material things, anyway, still, it comes to your pride and choices), well, itâs up to you though, either you keep them or return it to your ex, and again, the decision is yours. But if it reminds you of your ex, then throw it away. Whatâs the point of moving on when you just want them back at the end of the day.
4. Divert your Attention. Yes, overthinking sucks. I too, overthink. And sometimes, I think of my ex. And then cry, eventually, but itâs human nature. Duh! Play a sport, go for a walk alone, do yoga. I mean, do the things that is something new to you, or something that will keep you busy. For sure, google will be there to help you. All you gotta do is just type the things to do in the search bar. For sure, there will be results, in the process. Eventually, you will forget him or her.
5. Eat right. Yes, just because youâve broke up with, doesnât mean you will not eat anymore and starve yourself to death. Darling, itâs not yet the end of the world. There is so much in life. Prove to them that you are healthy, you are in good shape and make them jealous (No, seriously, not necessarily make them jealous, thatâs too bizarre and selfish, but of course, for your self). And of course, there are so many fish in the sea. The world is so big, literally! Maybe the person is in the other side of the world, or not born yet. Hello?! By eating the right amount of diet will make you even better. It may not really relate much, if you think, but eventually, you will understand why I added this idea. So, eat right.
6. Travel. In addition to the idea in number four, traveling helps. Especially when you travel alone. Not necessarily abroad, it can be in a short travel. A distant city or town perhaps, or an outdoor, or by the sea or trekking in mountains. Anything that will satisfy you (of course, weâre talking about satisfaction and happiness too here). But, do not travel to the place wherein youâve been together before. Hello, it might bring back memories and you might overthink again. Duh! Because the point here, is getting over. Soul searching perhaps. Get to know yourself. Be independent. Wander or get lost. It will make you through the process. Traveling will let you appreciate and enjoy life. It will let you new meet people (a love affair, maybe), new culture, new ideas, everything, I guess? But donât ever spoil your journey by just simply overthinking the situation. Definitely, it will ruin you.
7. Love yourself. Of course, no one will truly love you except yourself. Self love will always be the best potion in getting over with exes. So what if you cry over them, at least you loved them. So what if you overthink about them, at least you loved. Itâs a loss, perhaps. But itâs always been a learning experience. Treat yourself, either in a material way or through experience. Reward yourself by loving yourself. Itâs not hard to love someone else, right? How about yourself?
There are actually tons of ways, but the truth about this moving on thing, these advises, tips, steps, processes or whatever you call it, will still not work if it will not start from yourself. Yes, yourself! It takes time, yes. Because time heals. Hello, itâs not the end of the world and I repeat, there are many fish in the sea! You donât have to look for it, let love find you. Eventually, it will come. Just be positive in everything. And do not overthink, well, okay, overthink, but not too much. And please, if youâre still reading this, you are the best person that you could be. There is more to life. Live with it to the fullest!
