@reiigning gets a starter for clark.
It wasn’t so bad. When Faye Let me do everything myself Brookes was told she’d be partnering this article with Clark Kent, she honestly was expecting the worst. Not that Clark seemed the type to slack off or put in any effort of any mediocre level or anything akin to that. No, Faye knew he’d put in his one hundred percent in everything he did to contribute. He was the Golden Boy, after all, that’s what she tended to call him in passing. The reporter that did no wrong, bringing in article after article that managed to go on the front page most times. She kind of hated him for that.
Which she knew, was wildly unfair of her. It wasn’t Clark’s fault that it took her longer than she anticipated to make the switch from personal assistant in a shitty magazine to journalist at a respectable and influential newspaper publication. Yet sometimes it seemed like things went his way a bit easier than it ever would with Faye. Gender politics, probably. But in the time spent working alongside him, she saw he was the real deal. Talented, resourceful and not in the least bit boastful about it. Never seemed to take over or seemed to put her down for being less experienced of the two. Maybe he sensed if he did, Faye would have told him off, she didn’t know. Yet it was appreciated, not being condescended to like that. He really was Golden Boy of Metropolis and a part of Faye wanted to hate him for it.
Yet as she stood there in the main office, the outline of tomorrow’s edition for everyone to see and their article featured front and center, it was hard to hate him even a little bit. Her eyes on her name right there, staring right back at her. It made her smile, lingering on her face as she heard his footsteps and she turned around to look at him. He was cute, she’ll admit that. “Guess the Boss liked what we did, aye? Got first page and everythin’. Mind you, next time we get partnered up? My name’s goin’ first for the byline. Definitely make sure of that.” Her smile widening as she looked back at the outline, “But... We definitely did good, Golden Boy. Made quite the team. I’m definitely proud.”
