Growing up I always had a thing for music. I started out listening to a lot old school music from Jam Pony, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Gladys Night, Janet Jackson, The Temptations, Rick James, Slick Rick, Aaliyah, Toni Braxton, Etta James, Luther Vandross, Tina Turner, Marvin Gaye, Slick The Shocker, and more. It was just something about old school that makes you think, it had a lot of meaning, feeling, and soul to it. When I first heard Aaliyah music, i was in love. One In A Million was the first cd I ever owned. From that day i knew what i wanted to do. Since the age of six, I always wanted to be a singer but i didn’t have the voice to sing. It never stop me from singing any song that came on the radio though. So I put it all behind me but i never gave up because I knew one day I’ll be back at it again. After I turned 15 and had my first heart break, that’s when i started writing poetry and that lead me to rapping. The first song I ever wrote was “I Thought She Was the One For Me” which lead to the continuation song “No More Warnings.” The second song was “Assassination.” I later rewrote both song naming them “Thought You Were” which combined no more warnings and i thought she was the one for me and “Assassination.” Earlier this year I released a mixtape called just the beginning not the end which included assassination and thought you were. In a later post i will discuss the meaning of each song, the reason i created the mixtape, my mistakes, the reason behind the name changes, and what I plan on doing in the future. Look out for those.
