#regarding ao3

Sadly, no.

I had an account there for years. I was forced to delete it a few months ago. I'm not sure what happened to that site, but my account was swarmed by children. And yes, I'm sure they were children, because no adult acts that way. It came to the point where I dreaded posting a new chapter. Because as soon as I did, there were a few people dissecting my work, telling me and demanding that I change stuff in my stories (I mixed both the book and the show stuff into my stories, like I always do, so more people find it engaging and familiar). People over there didn't like that. My nerves were finally fried when one person started to outright accuse me of stuff and I just gave up and deleted everything. The thing about me is how I hate to disable comments, so readers can engage more with me. It was a mistake. And I'm not the only one. Many talented people are being pushed away from the site that was once perfect heaven for writers and readers.

I’ve actually talked about this before, but I know it’s gotten buried and I have gotten quite a few new readers lately, so it doesn’t hurt to repeat myself:

I have considered it, long and hard, and for now? It’s going to keep going as it is.

For me to put it on AO3, it would mean heavy edits and streamlining because I’m just not willing to put up a 54 chapter fic where some chapters are 5k and some are 500. Especially not since making it a chapter fic would, in my mind at least, require more streamlining and transitions and moving a bit of things around probably.

If I sat myself down and did that? I wouldn’t be updating the fic, and honestly, odds are I would stop updating entirely and the fic might just die because I get lost in swamp Crippling Self Doubt Due To A Perfectionism Complex and that’d be the end of it all.

Posting it on tumblr as I am allows me to tell my brain that “it’s fine that it’s not perfect! this isn’t the final version! this is the tumblr ficlet version!” and if I finish the story like this, odds are way better that I actually finish an edit/streamlining for AO3 too (that’s not to say that I don’t put a lot of effort into the tumblr ficlet version, I do, I just also manage to use it as a “doesn’t have to be perfect!” excuse).
