Reflect: awesome, I love a good story. Lay it on me, then.
Well, It all began when I came to the valley.
I’m sure you’re familiar with what happened.
The felling of the first tree,
and the appearance of that filthy orange backstabber.
As you may have guessed, we argued quite a bit.
We never saw eye to eye, even the slightest of twitches could set off an argument.
It was mostly about the trees, of course. Stupid thing never shut up about them. But I digress.
He continued to insist that he could harness the ‘powers of nature’ or whatever he called it and strike me down at any moment, so one day I made him a deal:
If he was really so concerned about the trees, then he could use those powers of his to make sure my business failed. Do whatever his fuzzy little heart desired; give me a tail, spider legs, anything to keep me from selling my invention. When I still succeeded, however, he’d have to take them back and give up this tree nonsense.
I found out he took my offer,
though I wasn’t quite expecting what he gave me.
It was difficult to get along with at first, it didn’t like me at all. I didn’t even know it could speak until the fourth day of living with it.
It did slow me down considerably, having to try and figure out this new creature AND selling my thneed with it staring down my audience. However, after enough bickering between the two of us and persevering through the torrent of tomatoes and insults, I managed to finally do what I had come to do and make my first sale.
When I told the lorax of my success, and asked for the creature to be removed, I discovered something.
I didn’t care. Business was beginning to take off, people were lining up to receive my product despite my new development. Money was flowing and all I had to do was learn to live with the creature, even come to enjoy it’s company; and I did. Together, we began to hatch new ideas, plans beyond the factories and the thneed. These plans would only lead to more success, especially in a bored little town that this one was.
