#refined emo

if you think that this picture is due to nostalgia brought by finding my old shoes from middle school, you’re wrong. these are converse that i am currently wearing and the laces complete with dinosaur charms were recently added thanks to raiding the children’s section of michael’s craft store. 

to others maybe these shoes seem ironic or maybe just make me seem childish (accurate assumptions) but the truth is, i’m still so goddamn emo. it’s been a little over ten years since this sweet christian girl started to rage with angst adorned in a thousand safety pins to prove it and i’ve come to realize there’s a lot of me from that time that’s stuck with me. now i’m 22 and i’m still categorized as eDgY™ but just a little/lot more relaxed or “grown up” i guess. 

i’ve seen so many others reflect on the death of the emo kids they used to be and for a while, i was like that too because jfc everything was so embarrassing in middle school. but secretly i was almost always listening to the soundtrack of 2005-2011 and having an emotional break down on the reg. idk if anyone ever figures out when/why/how they stop giving a fuck, but that’s basically what happened to me.
