Wrong Illness!
Being sick is the worst! It effects my refereeing, training, and obviously my non-rugby life (as if I have one). What do I expect refereeing 2 matches this weekend in frigid temperatures with a cold? Hopefully some rest is all I’ll need before Saturday. Good thoughts.
How I feel during most official reviews. Especially if captains are in the middle.
Saturday morning Soccer reffing
Did not start so well. I woke up later than I wanted to get to the field with adequate time. I forgot to put on sunblock, not thinking it would be sunny the whole game, so I'm a little burnt, great. Once I finally got to the school I couldn't find the field since I've never been to this particular school for games. So I'm running around with my bag which I normally don't bring to the field. I made with about 2 minutes to spare before kick-off. My partner were understanding since this particular campus had multiple school converging in one area. The games went well. I was kind of tired during the first game, I tweaked my foot at little while I was back pedaling during this game, I think I need new ref sneakers these are kind of beat up and I don't want to get injured. I just wasn't feeling it for a Saturday morning (could it have been the previous night's libations?) It was hot not really humid but it got up into the upper 80's at least. During the second half of the second game, the action was mostly on the other side of the field so kind of boring and you tend to zone out if you're far away from the action. Anyways left those two games with some lessons learnt. First, don't stay up so late catching up on shows and having rum and cokes when you have soccer games to ref the next morning. Secondly, be aware that when you press "dismiss" on your phone alarm that mean it's not coming on anymore. Thank god for my biological clock, otherwise I wouldn't have made it to either game.
The good news about those games is that they paid us on the field and we didn't have to wait for checks in the mail.
