random sbg question for the funsies: If all six of them were in an escape room together, whoâd be doing what? :3 and how quickly would they get it done
headcanons of the sbg gang in an escape room, here we go!
It was Aiden's idea to go to an escape room. He loves puzzles, and this was one big, human-sized puzzle, inside of which he could literally walk and touch everything and stuff. It's so much more fulfilling to him than his regular puzzles (and that's saying something!), he made it his mission to visit every single escape room in the area he was staying in every time his family moved, which made choosing a place a 1000% more difficult, because the group didn't want to drag him to a room he already solved.
The gang voted against doing anything horror, despite Aiden's whining. "Was the fucking phantom dimension not enough for you?" - Tyler, probably.
Game master, at the entrance: "The record for this room is 27 minutes"
Aiden, turning towards the group: "Bet we can do it in 10"
Despite it being Aiden's idea, he's the one who spends the most time complaining, sometimes broken up by occasional periods of him, as he would put it, 'locking tf in'.
Tyler didn't exactly want to admit it, but he got really into it after a little while. He came in with the mindset of 'this is for kids' and 'this is stupid', but ended up taking it upon himself to manage everything, split the tasks between everybody, and note down all the clues, as well as engaging in passionate discussions about the solutions to the puzzles.
Ashlyn was secretly glad to let Tyler take over.
At one point, Ashlyn and Tyler end up fighting over a solution for a solid 5 minutes. Aiden, Ben, and Logan watched the fight, silent, engaged in it so deeply they didn't dare to stop them, eyes darting from one to the other like they were audience at a tennis match. Behind their backs, Taylor solved the puzzle in question. The actual solution was completely different from both Ashlyn's and Tyler's.
Ben got called out by the game master for trying to twist something in the wall that he thought might be either a clue or another puzzle, which it wasn't, and he got so embarassed by it he couldn't stop thinking about it the entire game.
There was one puzzle that involved looking through the insides of some sort of mechanism, which Taylor liked a lot even if it wasn't particularly complex, as it was made to be solvable by people who don't neccesarily do mechanics.
Aiden "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys, I saw *proceeds to tell them about a clue they've all been actively searching for for the past 5 minutes*" Clark
Taylor "This is nothing more than just those point-and-click games, this is gonna be easy" HernĂĄndez
Ashlyn "I told you so" Banner
Logan would probably be anxious about time the entire time. He's the guy to keep announcing 'it's been 10 minutes', '40 minutes left', '20 minutes left'. DĂŠformation professionnelle.
Logan's academic knowledge helped them figure out the correct solution without finding the last couple of clues once. The game master didn't even know it was possible for that particular puzzle.
Aiden definitely tried to make small-talk with the game master multiple times while laying on the floor starfish-style.
"Hey, game master, how often do the players try to get that axe?"
"Young man in a red hoodie with a smiley face, do not rip out the battle axe from the wall. It is a part of the room decoration and is not meant to be used during the game."
Taylor, together with Ben, solved the most puzzles out of everybody.
Aiden probably dragged Ben to escape rooms with him all the time, which is why Ben is actually pretty good at them and, unlike his cousin, actually posseses the attention span required to solve it calmly with the others.
Aiden: "We are NOT asking for a hint!"
Ashlyn: "Aiden, we need to, we're stuck-"
Aiden: "No, we're not, I think I've got it!" *types in some number combination. The screen beeps 'wrong'.* "Fuck!"
Logan: "Let's ask for a hint-"
Aiden: "NO-"
Tyler: "Oh, for goodness' sake- *turns around and looks up at the camera* GIVE US A HINT!"
Aiden tackles him. Game master comes on to both tell them to stop wrestling on the floor and that it was their last warning, and to give them a hint. At the end, a faint, barely heard sigh could be heard from the GM: "teenagers..."
They solve the escape room in about 50 minutes. They could do it a lot faster if they didn't fight over about anything and took it more seriously, though, but they didn't feel like taking it seriously. It was their well-deserved break from taking things seriously.
Ashlyn thought it was sort of refreshing to do something like this with the group without fearing that a potential mistake could actually harm them greatly.
Mike, driving the kids home: "So, how was it?"
Aiden, who spent the entire time switching between whining, mindlessly looking over every prop thinking it could be a clue, laying on the floor because the carpet was nice to the touch, bantering with Tyler, and then ended up solving the last puzzle by pure accident: "it was easy"
