Many thanks for all the birthday messages. The highlight of today was getting a Northampton Saints away shirt from my dad. Problem was, it was too big. However, the shirt did fit my dad perfectly and he has decided to keep it for himself! My dad called it unfortunate. I call it convenient. I now await to see if my dad 'remembers' to re-order mine...

Sadly Alison back in hospital, but hopefully she'll be all the better for it. Meanwhile, had telephone job interview today. Seemed to go ok and hopefully should get a second interview soon.

Thankfully my car passed it's service (£230) & MOT (£54). it only needed new brake discs and pads (£325). Passing the MOT enabled me to tax my car and make it legal again (£264). And I finally got a replacement key card for the one I lost (£148). With Insurance & Breakdown (£780) paid in December. I should be good for another 12 months now. At least fuel's cheap

Letting Agency called to say that all being well, our house should be ready to move back into at the start of next week. I meekly go along with the facade of both of us pretending the previous promise was never made. Looks like another rent free week of my mum's home cooking and being waited on hand & foot. Someone remind me why this situation is so terrible again?

Our letting Agency have said previously that our house should have the electricity and heating restored tomorrow. Looking forward to the call tomorrow giving us the all clear so we can finally move back in.

My Gran returns to Northampton. This frees up the spare room at my parents house for Alison, myself and our dog to live in. An upgrade from the sofas in the lounge maybe, but an upgrade in much the same way that Southampton FC is an upgrade from Bournemouth FC.

Sanity restored after finally getting out to play some half decent golf today. Re New Years Eve, in a bid to avoid tonight being the anti-climax it always seems to turn out being, we've decided to remove all anticipation of a great night in the first place, by staying in with my parents and then turning in for an early night.
