Red Plump
Acrylic on Paper, 2004
Revisiting one of my early works for Ang Ink's 2004 exhibit "Meme Na" held at EDSA Shangri-La Mall, in partnership with the British Council Manila.
The theme coined from an early childhood routine, the afternoon nap. "Meme Na" which means sleep now. The concept being, dreams or panaginip in Filipino.
Red Plump, is a personal artwork consisting of my favorites at that moment. This one consisting of 5 simultaneous dreams in an evening. 1st - sleeping soundly on a bed of red plump tomatoes. 2nd - my version of the rooftop scene in Fruitcake the Book for the song Lightyears complete with the moon and the big dipper with a special appearance of the cow on a bike, my homage to @cynbauzonarre and @eraserheads_official. 3rd - a literal Higad band playing on top of a leaf, my homage to @theitchyworms. 4th - my love for Tomatoes, homemade Salsa and Pasta Pomodoro. 5th - and last, dreaming of driving a flying Topdown Beetle Volkswagen on my 23rd birthday, this one I literally had in a dream, while the Beetle was an homage to our first family car during the year I was born.
One day, I'll have a better image resolution of this artwork. In the background I believe I have written song lyrics of the song Lightyears.
