Huey stares at Fentonâs injury, his chest tightening as anxiety bubbled up inside of him. He rushed to grab the first-aid kit without prompt to help and returned to sit in front of Fenton to start rummaging through it for what he might need. He all but froze at Fentonâs words, his head shooting upwards to stare at the superhero with wide, scared eyes.
â Youâve had worse?! But- Fenton! This looks really bad! â
â¶Â  Fenton would not bring up  the time heâd flown out over the harbor to prevent the core implosion of the first version of the armor from blowing up a crowd gathered for Mark Beaksâ half â baked demonstration. Even though Huey was there for it. Because Huey was there for it.  He doesnât need to be reminded of that ;  doesnât need to know how badly Fenton was hurt that day. Â
Worse than this, he thinks. Or at least there was more widespread damage to his body, if not more threatening  ââââââââ  but the young scientist, the superhero, is in no position to assess the damage. Â
Hueyâs right :  it looks really bad. Fenton realizes only now that heâs spoken just how much blood there is, how it's matting down his feathers. The blow struck straight through one of the weak spots in the armor  ( a lucky shot or an educated one,  heâs not sure ),  & it tore into its wearer like a punch through paper.
â Y ââââââââ  yeah.  Yeah, itâs not, itâs not that bad, comparitively speaking, â  he insists anyway, because itâs the kind thing to do, the compassionate thing. His mindâs racing, itâs telling him an artery might have been opened, but heâs got his breathing under control & he is not showing the boy the anxiety thatâs stacking up wildly in that brilliant head of his.
