So I had a thought today.
Shocking grasp, being a touch spell, requires you to physically touch the target to deal lightning damage. That means you are conducting electricity without being harmed.
So, if you are fighting a creature with a penchant for lightning based ranged attacks (say a dragon with lightning breath), could you hold shocking grasp for the round contingent upon being hit with a ranged lightning strike and attempt to use the spell to redirect the attack? Because I would probably allow a player to do that, assuming they thought of it on their own and didmt try to use it to damage another creature. It would have to be a less precise redirection, most likely to an alternative ground. At least I would auto-halve the damage, since theyre planning and potentially wasting a round on this, which might make it worth it if they can divert it away from creatures behind them.
Anyway, thoughts? How would you respond if a player tried to do that in your game?

Most people after seeing Zoom throw the lightning back: "OMG! Zoom is so much more powerful than Barry. How can Barry even stop someone who is faster than light itself? Me after setting Zoom throw the lightning back: "Iroh, is that you?"
