Happy Birthday to the last man standing. It’s been a year or so. I love how you always pay it forward. #67 - 1975/14: Willie Nelson - Red Headed Stranger
The sleeve: terrible. Dopey 'western' font, weird photo/drawing.
Had I heard this before: Well, it all sounds extremely familiar, but I don't think I'd actually heard these particular songs before.
Another chore, I'm afraid. It's a concept album, and most of the songs have a similar theme, feel, tempo (a number of them in 3/4 time), and even chord progressions and vocal melodies. The repetitive nature of the record is underscored by the literal repetition of the opening song, "Time of the Preacher", in two brief reprises during the first half of the album. (All in all the album consists of about 10 songs, the two reprises, and a few song snippets/instrumental interludes.)
Which is fine, were it not for the fact that it's a concept album about a man who kills two women, and then whines about how sad this makes him feel for 30 minutes, broken up by the occasional jaunty ditty where he, presumably, dances the pain away.
I'm not very much into country music in general, and there is little here to keep me interested: this is bare-bones c&w for the true fan only. Absolutely baffling that it went to #1 and still commands the #14 spot for acclaimed albums of 1975.

Next up: back to life
It was bittersweet to see Willie Nelson perform on the Country Music Awards last night, but listening to this classic was on my mind all day today. #willienelson #redheadedstranger #nowspinning #vinyl #wpgvinyl #vinyljunkies #vinylgram #vinylcollectionpost #mymusiccollection https://www.instagram.com/p/B43dwCmgGkM/?igshid=gu1uyzcdksxt
