Until they snap. 

It was one phrase they had said that really set him off. He couldn’t breath, he felt the same things he had years ago. Pressure on his back, his ribs cracking under it, his face shoved into a pillow. A cold laugh above him. The child tried to fight, but the teen had him pinned. “Stop struggling, that’ll make it hurt more, and you don’t want that.” Mika’s older brother taunted, his knee pressing against the small of the kid’s back. 

The blond whimpered, trying to draw in a breath. Seeming to realize his brother couldn’t breath, the teen pulled the pillow out from under the young blond. Mika sucked in air, the pressure on his ribs still posing a problem. 

The memory consumed him, the feelings of panic forcing his limps into action. The blond scientist had already punched one of the other scientists out, his foot at his throat. Mikaela’s eyes were wide, a feral look to them. He was applying pressure to the other’s throat, cutting off his air supply. 

The whole unit was in dishevel, most of them in panic. Nobody knew what to do. He was an ordinary human, but Mikaela had a strength they did not, and they didn’t dare try to take him on. Besides, he had lost his senses, and that alone was terrifying. 

And then Mito walked in, to pick up the blond for a lunch date. As a soldier, she could handle anything Mika could throw at her, and she didn’t hesitate. The red-head drug Mika away from the now unconscious teen. 

He was like a wild thing, punching and kicking, even biting at the woman hauling him away. His blows connected, leaving angry marks, but still shouldn’t let go, and her patience was wearing thin. That, and some regular soldiers with guns had collected, ready to end the teen in his rampage. After all, the teen was dangerous, if set off. 

Mito shouted his name, but that only pissed Mikaela off more, and he struck her hard across the face. And that pissed her off. She slammed the male’s head against a table, not enough to render him unconscious, but enough to stun him while she swept his feet out from under him, pinning him on the floor. 

The blow to the head hadn’t just stunned him, it brought him out of his memory, back to the present. His whole body ached from tension. His knuckled throbbed, having been broken from slamming into faces. Tears leaked from the blond’s eyes, and he gazed up at Mito. “W-what are you doing here...?” He muttered, his voice hoarse. And then he took in her bruises. “D-did I...?” Mika knew before she answered. There was no one else there who could have done that.
