April's challenge has crossed the line, and now it's time to see who gets to do time!
This month's challenge was a doozy; it tested how you four act when everything can change in a matter of minutes, and all of you did it!
Though some of you did the challenge better than others!
Brittany ( @brittanyandras), the choice is now yours. You may claim the protection and privilege of staying in the Mayor's Mansion for the remainder of April, however, doing so requires a sacrifice, you let your own secret come to light and let Red Edge judge you for who you really are. Or, you may forgo protection and choose anyone else in Red Edge to be blasted onto our local news. Should you make that choice, you'll be left to manage the fallout, so choose wisely.
You have 24 hours to message the Mayor’s Office with your decision. If you fail to do so, I will make the choice for you—and I assure you, my decisions are rarely kind.
Dain ( @dainritchford), you did amazing, and for an EMT/firefighter, we expected more. However, your secret is safe...if Brittany decides it is.
Congrats to Brittany and the rest of Wave's End and Dain and the rest of Pirate's Cove, let's hope you can all do better next month
-The Mayor
The Line Challenge - Wave's End District
The road set before Brittany Andras is long, uneven, and unforgiving—cutting through the outskirts of Red Edge where the city’s polish fades into something quieter, harsher, more real. There are no spectators here, no applause waiting at the finish line, no one to witness the choices she makes except herself. The air is still, almost heavy, as if the challenge already knows what it will demand of her. Ahead lies a course built not just to test endurance, but to strip everything down to instinct, values, and willpower.
At the starting line, Brittany is fitted with a weighted pack—solid, unrelenting, pressing into her shoulders before she’s even taken her first step. It’s manageable at first, just enough to remind her it’s there. But she’s told what lies ahead: at every checkpoint, she will be given the option to add more weight or continue as she is. Each addition represents “impact,” a contribution to unseen district members whose lives are shaped by her willingness to carry more. No one will force her. No one will judge her in the moment. The choice will always be hers.
The first stretch of the course lulls her into a rhythm—steady breathing, controlled pace, the kind of movement that feels sustainable. When she reaches the first station, the question comes quietly: take on more, or keep moving. The added weight sits beside her, deceptively simple. It would slow her, strain her muscles sooner, make every step harder. But it would mean something. After only a brief pause, she makes her choice, and the difference is immediate. The pack digs deeper, her posture adjusts, and the course ahead suddenly feels longer than it did before.
As she continues, the terrain shifts beneath her—loose gravel, shallow inclines, stretches that seem to drag on just a little too far. The added weight compounds with every step, turning small obstacles into real challenges. By the second checkpoint, fatigue has begun to creep in—not overwhelming, but persistent. This time, the decision feels heavier, more calculated. She knows what it costs now. She knows what it will do to her body later. And still, the option remains: carry more, or protect what strength she has left.
Midway through the course, the strain becomes undeniable. Her shoulders ache with a deep, constant pressure, her legs beginning to burn in a way that doesn’t fade with movement. Every incline feels steeper, every step more deliberate. The silence around her amplifies everything—the sound of her breathing, the rhythm of her footsteps, the quiet weight of each decision she’s made so far. At the next station, she hesitates longer than before. Not out of weakness, but awareness. She understands now that every choice is cumulative. Nothing resets. Nothing disappears.
The later stages of the course demand more than just physical endurance—they demand resolve. The weight she’s chosen to carry has changed the way she moves, the way she thinks, the way she approaches each step forward. There are moments where stopping feels like the only reasonable option, where the idea of conserving energy becomes almost overwhelming. And yet, the structure of the challenge offers no relief from decision-making. Even now, even this far in, she is still being asked: what are you willing to carry?
As the final stretch comes into view, Brittany is no longer moving the way she did at the start. There’s a visible effort in every step, a determination that has replaced efficiency. The finish line is close enough to reach—but not without cost. One final station stands between her and the end. One last opportunity to add more weight, to increase her impact, to push herself further than she already has. At this point, the question is no longer theoretical. It’s deeply personal.
When she finally crosses the finish line, the weight is lifted—but not forgotten. Every decision she made along the course is accounted for, translated into something tangible, something measurable. But the true outcome isn’t just in the numbers. It’s in the way she chose to move forward when it would have been easier not to. In a challenge defined by endurance and moral choice, Brittany Andras leaves with more than a result—she leaves with proof of exactly what she was willing to carry.

The Line Challenge [Hope Island District]
The path stretches far beyond the edges of Red Edge, winding through quiet woods and uneven terrain, far from the polished world Devin Carter is used to navigating. As a live-in nanny to one of the wealthiest families in the city, she’s no stranger to responsibility—but this is different. There are no watchful eyes, no expectations from others—only the weight of her own choices. Recently engaged to Shane Nichols, Devin stands at a crossroads in more ways than one, and this challenge asks a simple question: who is she when no one is watching?
At the first station, she’s given a choice—take on additional weight or continue unburdened. The extra weight promises impact beyond herself, a symbolic act of care for unseen lives, but it will slow her down, test her endurance, and push her limits. Each checkpoint offers a similar dilemma: conserve her strength and move forward quickly, or sacrifice time and energy to contribute to something greater. There are no right answers here—only reflections of what she values most.
As the course wears on, fatigue sets in. Her body aches, her breathing grows heavier, and the choices don’t get easier. A chance to rest appears, brief but tempting. Taking it would give her the energy she desperately needs—but declining it would add to a growing reserve of “impact,” something she won’t fully understand until the end. Every decision becomes quieter, more internal. It’s no longer about winning—it’s about what kind of person she chooses to be under pressure.
By the time Devin reaches the final stretch, she is exhausted—but aware. One last decision stands before her: finish now, secure her time, and end the challenge… or push beyond her limits for something unseen, something intangible, something that may never be acknowledged except in the final tally. In a world where she is often defined by her role in others’ lives, this is the one moment that is entirely hers. And whatever she chooses—it will say everything.

The Line Challenge (Pirate's Cove District)
Being a firefighter/EMT he was used to a challenge. It was something he faced nearly every day and this challenge was no different. Or so he lied to himself that it was not any different. Sure, the enitre town could know his secret, but that was neither here nor there in his opinion. Right now, his only focus was on the challenge at hand.
The challenge was finding resources he may need in an emergency and he was damnned good at it. He had taken a bunch of survival courses when he was growing up, so yes, this was easy to him, but after being in Italy for a month, he did not like feel like trying to push himself too much.
It took him about ten hours to find anything and everything he would need to find in an emergency situtation and the majority of that time was spent finding a stable shelter should anything go catastrophically wrong in Red Edge.
Once he finished the challenge, he threw his findings down and exhaled. "Never underestimate me again." He said before walking away to his house.

The Line Challenge [Falcon Haven District]
She hated this; she wasn't one for endurance, but she had to do this challenge. It was better than just waiting for someone to expose her if they won. At least if she won, she had the choice to either expose herself or someone else, though, was she really that evil to expose someone else?
Shaking her head to not think about that, and all the possible outcomes of this challenge, she ran the course that had been made for her when she told them that she was going to go with the first option, and picked up the items she saw along the way.
Each item she added made it harder and harder for her to keep going, but she pushed on. She had to keep going and going and going. If she didn't, she'd fail, and that was not an option in her book.
When she finally reached the finish line, she was sweating more than she had ever done so in her life. She felt like she was more sweat than human at this point. "Fuck." She gasped and dropped everything that she had picked up along the way.
Lying down on the pavement next to her stuff, she exhaled and put her hands over her head. She hoped she would not have to do this again for a long, long time.
