imagine you shacked up in a communal place thats all warm and welcoming and everyone smiles at you even the people who hate you and one day the landlord busts down the door and screams JIGS UP MOTHERFUCKING SQUATTERS and torches the fucking place to the ground, and everything youve built up in here over the years is just burnt to a crisp and ash and your friends fled or are killed. and you try to stick around in that place because it was your home, is your home, but your posessions are gone and your acquaintances are nowhere to be found and the memories hurt so much.

so you leave so you can heal. you go to another place that isnt as great. you want the pain to fade.

and some time later you think its okay to come back. you see several people milling about, erecting walls of scorched drywall and dragging in bits of trash and plywood to fix the place. you even see some of your old acquaintances. your eyes dont meet. you dont want to discuss what has happened. its fine. its hurting us all. we try to rebuild. it starts to get a little comfortable, as quiet as it is. the hurt thins out a little.
