It was a good thing she’d taken Demonology. She reasoned it was a good chance to learn more, beyond what she’d been taught growing up, since things weren’t as black and white as her family had taught her. She knew that now. She wished she’d had that knowledge much earlier, but clearly no one had expected her to end up the way she had.
Even now it was still a mystery. She would have thought that the earlier generations would be more closely related, with a stronger demon side than she possessed. She was pretty sure genetics were supposed to work that way...unless it really just skipped all those generations and showed up in her somehow. Or maybe demon genetics were different?
But even the oni clan hadn’t really had an answer for her, especially since she looked so much like Tenma himself. The only explanation they’d offered was reincarnation but how did that even work? But finally, she seemed to have someone who would be able to tell her--or at least, point her in the right direction for answers.
So Tsubasa waited until class was over before approaching the teacher’s desk. “Ah, excuse me, sensei?” It felt weird to call a teacher anything but, even in a place like this. “I’m not..sure if you’d be able to answer this but...do you know why demonic powers would skip so many generations only to show up now?”
She bit her lip, fidgeting slightly. “I mean, it was a really, really long time ago, but apparently I’m the only one who’s had it this strong...enough to the point that it overwhelms the holy power I’m apparently supposed to have.”
