Thanh Kim village in the north of Vietnam.
Thanh Kim - a small village, mainly inhabited by Red Dao ethnic people. This village is about 35 km south of Sapa. The best way how to get there is to travel on the motorbike or take a mototaxi in Sapa town. If you want to try a typical local homestay you need to ask people on the place.

This is my friend Shumai. She's part of the Red Dao minority in #Sapa. She's #4 because she's the fourth oldest in her #family. The Red Dao people followed us the entire way, and especially Shumai; she stayed by my side walking and said "you speak pretty." She told me she had three children, all girls, ages nine, seven, and four months. She also showed me one plant that they use to make dye for their homemade clothing. She pointed and said it takes four large bamboo sticks for her father to make one woven basket over the course of four days; they carry the homemade baskets on their back, with clothing they make inside of it, and try and sell their work to tourists. This was a great #opportunity for me to interact with and immerse myself in the local #culture. It also helps the #locals learn and practice English, so it was valuable on both ends--a truly unique #experience. I'm #thankful for these memories and truly admire such strong #women. #reddao #minority @humansofvietnam_ #vietnam #explore #discover #bestie #interaction #spreadlove #explore #immersion #travel #bekind #newfriends (at Tu viện cổ - Tả Phìn - Sa Pa)
