Obviously we have the whole David and Claire dynamic that could happen - alphas with less than two parents - but based upon some canon (and some headcanons), Sam and Claire seem like they’d get along better. Or at least they’re more similar, in my opinion.

Castle herself said that ‘If [Claire] likes a style of clothing, then she'll get a bunch of the same clothes in different colors.’ on her tumblr. And in that one audio where Tank is packing Sam’s things for a pack trip, Sam says he just buys clothes in bulk when he likes them. They both have no sense of fashion. I love them for it. Additionally: flannel. Specifically: red flannel. We can’t convince ourselves they both don’t wear it. It’s convenient, it’s warm, it’s simplistic yet not basic, it’s practical, it’s reusable. All good reasons. But I believe they both own it for a secret reason… Because it’s hot… Enough said.

Another point: the healing thing. Claire is a blood mage, Sam was a freelancer (open wielder in Castleverse terms) with a speciality/interest for healing. They both have respective listeners that need this special skill a little too much. But we digress - this isn’t about Tank and Ranger. Both Claire and Sam have negative side affects for their healing: Claire’s eyes and fingers turn black when she uses blood magic for too long and she often focuses on healing others and not herself - personally I believe she gets migraines if she focuses on her blood magic for too long, but that’s just me. Sam’s magic physically exhausts him and gives him headaches when used for a long period of time or for excessive wounds. They’re both saviours who let themselves get hurt in the battle. It’s poetic, it’s romantic, it is concerning.

Additionally, a few little facts to fully tie together these two. Both Claire and Sam have Dom vs Dom energy with their partners (Ranger is basically Claire’s partner in life at this point, whether or not they’re romancing yet). Both wanted to be a healer in an occupation before a major life event strayed them from that role. Both have a snarky little friend who likes to push them into social events (Vincent, Beth). Both have a older/younger sibling relationship with another character (once again Vincent, Knight). And finally, both absolutely have one pair of boots that they wear with every outfit 24/7.

Also they were both betrayed by someone who held a position of power above them, but we don’t talk about that part.
