Notes on Gnostic Teachings/ The Red Path of Mary Magdalene 1
Only experience can provide a fundamental basis for real change.
This is the main principle of gnosticism (which technically does not exist, sense each person is responsible for their own understanding, no religion can be made from it)
Gnosis is the greek term for self knowledge- specifically, knowledge stemming from direct experience.
Experience is the basis of wisdom itself. which can only be acquired through the experiencing of the truth of what is beyond the physical senses.
This happens when we awaken the consciousness.
Which requires purposely separating from the egoic identity
In the Early days of Christianity, the texts- especially those not included in the official version of the bible focus on the importance of not only femininity/ feminine energy, but on salvation as an inward act of personal transformation. In this thought, the ego is a hell of its own which we must overcome to achieve oneness with God.
Mary Magdalene’s gospel focuses largely in part, on connecting with the divine self within. And in order to do that, one must overcome the 7 powers of the ego. Her gospel eluded to the idea of heaven on Earth.
5. Enslavement to the physical body
6. The false peace of the flesh
These compare to the 7 deadly sins of the Christian faith- In my best guest it compares as such, though I might change this as I gather more information. Though it seems several of the deadly sins below belong to more than one the power of the egos. Ex. Gluttony and Lust could both fit into the path of enslavement of the physical body or even craving.
1. Greed (1)- Darkness. This is the feeling of wanting to be the only one with anything. To be the biggest, baddest, blackest on the block and contain all of the power within. The desire to overpower every thing and one around you. (think marvel villain plotting to take over the world
2. Lust (5)- Enslavement to the physical body. Being compelled and ruled by your bodies urges and desires to feel the contact and pleasure of another physical vessel, seems to be one of the biggest sins in Xianity along with Pride, however it’s a necessary path to walk to maintain life and this physical reality for human beings. In this, it’s not Sex or the desire for sex, but being controlled by it that is focused on.
3. Envy (4)- Craving of Death. This was interesting. I connected these two for a simple reason. Anyone who envies another person is wishing that person had nothing. This is actually more comparable to the first power listed which is darkness. This is the desire to overpower/ overshadow another person. You want what they have and sometimes, you don’t, all your spirit knows is that you want to have more than them. This is a craving of death, because in this scenario not only is the focus on killing another person’s dreams/being, but it’s also so deeply rooted in the essence of another, than you are no longer feeding yourself anything of substance to you. It’s like feeding a dog grapes- it’s good for us, but the Dog’s stomach is not made to digest this. Such as us human beings. What one is made to experience, is not always what I should experience. In fact, if I were to walk the path of say 50 cent and got shot 9 times, I might not live, whereas, he was destined to survive that experience and profit from it. What’s good for the Geese is not always good for gander.
4. Gluttony (2) Craving. This is obvious, right? I had a hard time identifying this one because Greed can also be classified as craving, right? I settled on correlating Gluttony with craving in the end thought because of the extent of greed itself goes way past craving into a much darker part of our shadow. Gluttony however deals with the consumption of food, particularly the overconsumption of food which typically happens when we really enjoy a particular taste, we desire more of it.
We call this selective hunger. I’m hungry, but I will only eat a cheeseburger from Mcdonalds. Well, one can say that you’re not really truly hungry then, huh?
5. Sloth (6)- The false peace of the flesh. This is the problem with us sloths, we delight in the act of doing absolutely nothing. Taking a 5 hour break and staring at a fucking box projecting the warped thoughts of someone else. We are content in this stagnancy. In that there is a level of unrest, because our spirit is thought to desire experiences, which we cannot have by staring at someone act out a fictional experience. This makes the peace we have in our slothenness false simply because it will not last for the majority of us.
6. Anger (3)- Compulsion of Rage. Obvious again, right? Anger is a healthy emotional response to frustration, however, just like lust, it has it’s place and certainly a limit in ‘acceptable’ expression to it. Outside of morality- which we are not focusing on, at all here- the biggest reason to controlling our anger is simply the power of having control over our body/minds and emotions. When we are able to control the way and the level at which we express out emotions, we are able to control a large part of our reality, in some cases, we’re even able to use the energy of our emotions to manifest within our physical reality.
7. Pride (7) Ignorance. Definitively, these do not compare well. Pride is the feeling of deep satisfaction or pleasure derived from one’s own achievements. while ignorance is defined as a lack of knowledge or information.
In order to have pride in one’s work, one must have done the work to achieve said work. This includes practice and study, which combats ignorance. The ties between pride and ignorance comes then in the feelings/emotions and thoughts.
This, I think, will be the biggest deviation from the ‘true’ gospel that Mary and Jesus taught.
When the focus is shifted from gathering information to Pride ( wherein a feminine principal in itself with a masculine projection and pride which is a masculine principal with a feminine output) how one feels, it shifts the center of the teachings from meeting God within to a God outside of the self.
The sin of pride is reason the supposed devil was supposedly kicked out of heaven. The fault is in the lack of humility. The lack of acknowledgement of the outside forces that come together to help create the reality of your achievement.
As a spiritualist, I think of the acts that we take in thanking the spirits and elemental guides, as well as the cosmic guides. We are grateful to them and show our thanksgiving through the giving of offerings from food to trinkets to acts of devotion and mindfulness dedicated to said entity.
I am also reminded of the myth of the fae which states to give a fae an offering is akin to asking for trouble. In the subject of God (from the Christian standpoint) sacrifices and offerings are no longer required and in fact are abominations (of course this is typical meant of ritual/planned sacrifices of that outside of self and excluding the offerings made on Sundays to the churches) .
To go along with the typically tricky characteristics of a fairy is the opposing myth that says to give the fae and offering of milk, bread and honey to make them your allies. In Christianity the sacrifices of a broken spirit and a contrite heart (which I’ll need a whole other post to talk about cuz... bruh.).
In such a way the fae remind me of demons- which funnily enough, their myths also indicate that they are of the angelic kinds- however demoted by way and the celestial, ancestral folk angels.
The main difference as I understand is that the Fae are of the earth and the angels celestial beings- or of the cosmos rather. And I would rather, because when you .
