~Xialla Brooks, entry 8. Being grounded and sick~
Chores, chores, and chores. Throwing up, cleaning the toilet, studying. ARGH. I hate it here! Only Red understands me. Red and Whiskers are the only ones I let in my room.

~Andi Brooks. Entry 4. Maintaining~
Work has been stressful as of late. No news on my niece, and the covert ops sectors are stressed and uppity about SOMETHING, but as of now they had no need for the Corporate Marshal. Fine by me. I am looking forward to when I can retire. I know Lyssa is too.
Whiskers has run away. We are all upset. I called Cayson to let him know that we had put out all the feelers. I had to leave a voicemail. He was probably in class, it is a weekday after all. I put out some of Cayson’s old shirts, food, and had the entire town covered in posters. Lyssa even went fishing for a video, so we could put out fresh fish. Might as well right?
Nothing is ever easy, is it?
~Red Brooks, entry 3. Even more troubles~
The remaining children had a fight. I could tell. Whiskers fixed it, but things weren’t quite the same. Xialla needs to know. Andi needs to tell her that she isn’t human, that she is from Sixam. Silly humans, always afraid of things that they don’t know. Afraid of things they do not understand.
“Hey you two, have you made up? Good! Xi, go talk to your Dad, the homework can wait!” Of course they don’t understand me. I am the only one holding the house down now. Whiskers decided to go searching for Cayson. I tried telling the cat that she couldn’t get to Britechester from here, even for me it would take several days with my abilities...but she decided to go anyways. I hope Nature carries her there safely.
“Hold on Cayson, I’m coming...and if I find that stash, I am flushing it down the toilet!”
~Red, entry 2. Comfort~
Whiskers is worried about her human. I am too. He hasn’t called his parents yet. It’s been a few weeks by now...
W: “It’s been AGES, where is he? Did he forget about me?”
R: “No, I don’t think he did.”
W: “Did he take too much? Maybe if I had hid in his luggage...”
R: “They would have found you. We did all we can.”
W: “It doesn’t feel like enough.”
R: “No, no it doesn’t...”
It may be time for me to go for a walk...
~Red Brooks, the day of Cayson moving out~
The oldest is leaving today. Everyone is sad. I remember the day when he was born, crawling around to pet my ears. Now, he is a grown man, determined to make his own choices, even if they are foolish. He is moving and taking those choices with him...and it makes Andi and his mate sad. Moving on is a part of life. Soon...soon Andi will move on too. Then, I will decide who to watch. But for now...I sniff, and I look on as the humans talk and cry. He makes promises to his mother he will not keep. How can he, when he has already broken them?
“Did you find anything Whiskers?”
“No, he took the smelly bag somewhere in the cold mountain.”
Of course. He was good at hiding his bad habits. If only I had been able to find them and give them to Andi...but Cayson was too smart for his own good.
“He will get more, when he leaves.” Both of us shared a silent hiss and growl.
“We won’t be able to stop him, will we?” Whiskers was a grouchy cat, but he worried for his sim, as did I.
“No. We will not unfortunately. We just have to hope he doesn’t go too far...we’ve done all we can.” I nuzzled the kitty.
“Maybe I can check in his boxes again, or in the laundry? You checked the playground, and his mattress?”
“Yes, yes,. and yes. The foul smells are not there. What scents are there are old and decaying, since before the trip. We can do no more.”
Whiskers’ ears drooped in defeat. “What if he goes and never comes back? What if he takes too much?”
We nuzzled each other, each seeking comfort. “Do not worry cat; the sims here will care for you if that happens...and I will be here. If he does...I will find him and get help, somehow.” After all, I was a guardian of this family, and Cayson WAS family. I would know.
“But you do not know where the other one is.”
“I have an idea of where she is.”
“So why not lead them to her?”
“Because I have a distinct feeling a kit of mine is with her now.” Nature worked in mysterious ways, as did the pull of a guardian. My pull to mate so many years ago now was showing its fruit. I could smell Marin in the air, the winds bringing me her scent, and that of fish, sand, and salty water. A fellow guardian’s scent, but one that was similar to my own. Magic worked in strange ways.
“So she is okay?”
“Yes. And so will Cayson be, eventually. We just have to trust in Nature, and that she will guide the way.”
“This is so hard.”
“I know. But we are here, for each other.” The two pets nuzzled and comforted each other, both watching with mourning, fearful eyes as the oldest of their sim children flew the nest, onto an adventure without them.
