passing the question along because I reckon you'll have a great answer: What is Your favorite word, friend nohoperadio?
Unfortunately I never finished reading the dictionary as a youth so I can't speak authoritatively about this, but I can mention a few good ones. I shote out "swum" recently and "dreamt"-with-a-T longer ago than that, I feel like "gotten" is underrated along similar lines, these three all have a pebble-like clumsiness of shape that appeals to me, very simple words but a little bit misshapen.
I enjoy "passersby" with its internal plural, I'm not above little gimmicks like that. "Masturbatory" is fun to say if you say it right, as is "midwifery" for similar reasons. "Rapacity" contains a compelling tension within it because it's a very sober word with an unsober meaning. The archaic "O", as in O, untimely death!, has a potential for melodrama that our modern Oh doesn't live up to very well, and isn't it sad to think that we could have had one more one-letter word if we didn't throw it away?
Nothing jumps out at me as a clear winner but those are a few words that have earned my respect.
