It was almost amazing, how he seemed able to get himself into trouble, even when in another world. Perhaps Edward was a magnet for such things - heâd have to think on the matter later, when he wasnât busy dodging projectiles.
âShit-â The curse slid past his lips just as Ed managed to dive behind a gathering of large boulders, though sounds of explosions causing his ears to ring. Had he not known the truth, the blond might have thought that he was on some kind of battlefield, for it certainly sounded as if he were up against some kind of army, but no - this attack only had one source, though what it was, the alchemist couldnât say that he understood.
Even now, as he peered out from behind that which was giving him cover, Ed didnât have a clue as to what he was dealing with. His opponent in question wasnât a human, nor even a chimera or homunculus, but some strange, almost egg-shaped thing with canon-like protrusions across its surface. What was disturbing about the object, however, was that it had been a man moments before, and now seemed to bear a grotesque mockery of the individualâs face.
Just what the hell was he dealing with here?
âFucking hell-â He ducked back behind his cover as another barrage of bullets was launched his way, tearing gauges into the earth as if it were made of paper. For the first time since heâd been woken up alone in this place, Ed found himself grateful for the fact that there didnât seem to be any sign of other people for miles - it meant that he wouldnât have to worry about holding back.
It was a break in the monstrosityâs fire that gave him his chance. Clapping his hands together as he darted out from his hiding place, the alchemist followed up by slamming his palms against the ground, and in response, the ground swelled like a wave. It barreled towards the creature, encasing it in a thick shell of dirt and stone, and Ed found himself grinning at his accomplishment.
The expression was to be short-lived, however, as a rumble permeated from inside the earthen prison, and seconds later, Ed was forced to throw his arms up in order to shield himself from the resulting spray of rock and dust.
âOh, come on!â came a frustrated hiss as his hands flew to the ground again, raising another wall up between himself and the monster that had begun to, once more, shoot at him. âCanât you stay down?!â
