Don't people realize that so much could have been avoided if they just TOLD Eden things instead of keeping her in the dark? SHE BURNT DOWN A FREAKING SCHOOL!!
But the first few books were not as interesting then the last few i guess as Eden grew we grew with her and we saw the whole demeanor change
they fell in love way too fast and Eden was lowkey so annoying in the beginning til she realized her worth and the plot thickened to the war and how to control her powers
overall Rachel Higgins did a amazing job on this series
Summary:
16 year old Eden Matthews has been in and out of private schools for the last two years. Kingsley is her last chance to finish high school and she is determined to simply do that. But when she meets Kiran Kendrick and her world opens to something she thought only existed in fairy tales, she's unsure what her future will hold. Suddenly she is captivated by a boy who seems to be the source of all of her problems and struggling to rescue her best friend from a foreign prison. When attempts are made on Kiran's life, Eden alone must save him. Thrust into a world that is more make-believe than reality, Eden has to find her own destiny without losing those she loves most. Reckless is an intricate story of mystery, adventure, magic and love. Eden Matthews is an unlikely heroine set on a path to save the world and her loved ones before its too late. Reckless Magic (star-crossed 1) by Rachel Higginson Review:
I really enjoyed reckless Magic and the more I was reading the more I liked it. The first quarter of the book was a bit slow and I almost gave up but one of my friend really enjoyed the series so I decided to stick to it and I’m really glad I did! The more you get in the story the more interested I got and I’m so glad I have the full series waiting as I would have probably whined for days if I didn’t have them. The main character Eden was getting on my nerves at first and I kept wondering how someone could be both that oblivious and stubborn but she really grew on me and I can honestly say I love him now. Rachel did a fantastic job giving dimension to her characters, you really feel and live along with them, even the more secondary characters for which I have to say kudos to you Rachel! The story was very well written and it was a story of quality, it was a self published book of such high quality I couldn’t believe it was self-published! The plot is so original, Rachel did get out of all the cliché and I can’t wait to see what she has plans for Eden, Kiran Avalon and other in the next book. In Conclusion: if you are fan of paranormal YA books this one is for you. You get to feel it all and you have it all! Secrets, lies, betrayal and of course impossible love and heartbreaking romance. A MUST read!

Reckless Magic: Rachel Higginson
When I was in middle school, my best friend and I would create these fantasy stories, and worlds. There would be magic, prophecies, dying races, and princes disguising themselves as commoners, who would fall in love with the heroines. This book reminds me very much of something we would have come up with.
I liked this book perhaps a bit more than I should have. There were quite a few grammatical errors (they're and you're instead of there and your), and the story isn't really anything new or different. Eden clearly suffers from "hero/ine syndrome", where every character of the opposite sex *must* be in love with her, even though she's shy, and awkward. But the book really appealed to my sense of nostalgia. Also, I'm a total chick, and love the whole "star-crossed lovers" aspect.
The story itself is pretty fun. Eden whines a bit too much, but she'll hopefully grow into a more confident heroine. The beginning was pretty slow, but once it picked up speed I couldn't put the book down.
I was very pleased to note that the entire series is already out. There's even a fifth, sort of "epilogue", from what I can tell. All of these books came out in the space of a year, or so. That's just impressive. I love it when I don't have to wait months for a sequel to come out! I just hope they weren't all rushed out at the cost of editing...
This was definitely more of a "chick" fantasy book. There's a lot more romance than there is fantasy. I've given the book to my youngest brother, and will see how a male audience would respond. I'd imagine it's a bit too kissy and mushy, though. I'm sure he'll thank me for that.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go read Hopeless Magic.
That awkward moment when...
you put something in someone's ask, when you never thought you would. Yep, totally me.
Well, hi tumblr. How are you? ~___~ I am NEVER ON. I really have no excuse for not being on... I just can't get into it like most um.. of the people I know? Yeah. I was playing Kingdom Hearts over again because Dream Drop Distance is coming for the 3DS in July, and then I went to the Grand Canyon last weekend. It was alright, but I wish I brought stuff so that I can go hiking!! It looked amazing and it would probably look even more amazing if I actually hiked in the canyon.
Anyways, the long drive to Arizona and back to Cali took forever so I read Reckless Magic. Something about the storyline just sucked me right in, and I've been reading it for days... I finished that book and the other three books that followed it and as of right now, I'm so sooo sad. The main character was really emotional though ~___~ && The guys totally unrealistic (kind of).
