What I'm Listening To... August 27th 2012
Today it was another episode of ReCivilization, which never disappoints (and by "never", I actually mean "neither episode I've heard"). I sampled an excerpt of this for the blog before I even got around to writing this.
This was episode 2 on Information, but somewhat divided into Scientific Research, and Education. What I love so far about this show is how it points out the current biases and methods in addition to suggesting new ones.

A taste of ReCivilization.
This clip is 4.5 minutes, but the first 90 seconds is the show opening for the CBC program ReCivilization. Notice I didn't say "just" the show opening. Even the opening spiel of this program feels like it opens a door behind you so that you can step back and take a wider view of the world.
The rest is the first snippet of Episode 2, and we hear Don Tapscott talk about models of education, and knowledge. The opening doesn't so much propose an alternative model, but it does make you realize that the methods we currently use to research and educate are NOT the default... they are in fact quite shaped by the industrial age in which they were developed.
Find the full episode on the ReCivilization website.
Don Tapscott asks newspaperman Alan RusBridger of the Guardian a thought provoking question.
