So, I will fully admit, I am probably biting off more than I can chew in regards to coding ability for this idea but; as wonderfully diverse IFs are these days, I see very few actually acknowledge the character's sexuality. I.e. You choose all the male/masc. options for the ROs in a game as a male/masc. character, and then the story treats it as a matter of course and never mentions it again.

I'm not saying this is wrong! Not at all. But since my story is set in a modern Earth, I want the story to acknowledge the preferences of the player in some way. Both in a positive, negative and if I can, funny and heartwarming way.

Then there is the subject of The Hitman. The character you play has quite a weak sense of self, and a warped set of boundaries. I wanted to explore the idea of sexuality with them with this in mind: would someone who has been objectified and weaponise to such an extreme have the time or awareness to sit down and put a label on themselves? Especially a character who goes down the Black Widow route, who has been taught to use their body and sex as a tool. Would they have the privilege of considering their sexuality in those moments, or would they figure it out way faster than other Hitmen- or even realise that they don't feel sexual attraction at all! This story is not just about romance, I want it to be a story of a person rediscovering themselves.

Sufficed to say, it is, a bit of an undertaking coding wise and I might quickly find out why a lot of IFs don't go that route unless they're huge masochists. If it's beyond my ability and I can't find a neat way of implenting my vision, then I will raise the white flag and keep things simple.

Though, if by unrealistic, you mean "why would it take a grown adult this long to realise their sexuality"? Well, as someone who took 10+ years to finally label themselves as bisexual, and I'm nowhere near as traumatised as a child soldier, I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility.
