I suppose by the time this month is over, this will have reached over 5 million views. My only prayer is that the comments will overwhelmingly be on the side of never allowing this show to go any further than this pathetic video promotion which is attached.  I thought long and hard about attaching the video, it is-unfortunately- a  way for it to get more views. BUT, without the video, the harsh, cruel reality of what this show promotes is lost.  After all, we are visual.

As a mother, educator, and a woman who values herself and wants so much more for the next generation, the premise of this show promises to set us back centuries.  Black women are devalued and marginalized in every societal outlet without this furthering that devaluation and marginalization. This group of women have the power to bring us forward or set us back with their platform and they have unfortunately chosen the latter. Oh, yes, there is one Caucasian in the cast. Makes me wonder why the cast was not  the reverse? I digress.

What some won't do for the love of money, fame or just attention. These are damaged women who state they have children. Is this really what they would want for their children?

No one is perfect. If you are or have been a side chick, there are reasons why and how it happens. But never ever be proud that you are or were.  Sh#t happens and we should learn and grow into mature women of worth with each set back we encounter-yes, even if that set back was being a side chick.

I will have empathy and sympathy for both the side chick and the wife. But I have zero tolerance for the glorification of what is simply wrong.  I want to see a generation of black women who embrace their worth and respect themselves. How do we demand respect from others when this is what the media portrays. I listened to the bantar and laughter and was confused. How is this a laughing matter-just ask anyone who has had to live through a side chick situation.  Of course these women are the minority, but they have a very public platform to use and that is dangerous. The influence is real.

And to think, the wonderful fact-based historical drama Underground was cancelled and this vile show may hit the air. Deplorable indeed. Thank you OWN Network for picking up the show.

It is time for our community to stand up against the so called reality shows and cast our own reality every day for our children and community to watch in real time.  I am not a victim, I will not raise children who are victims and I will not stand idly by and promote the victimization and objectification of my sisters and my culture.

My outrage is real. This show is not.  As my grandmother use to say, some things you just keep to yourself and take it to the grave.
