There comes a soft churr β a triplicate sound that emanates not from her mouth from from the general vicinity of her chest, placed somewhere near a growl but softer, lighter, pitched more towards the front of her body and higher in her throat. It is something almost feline, vaguely alike to that of the quasi-familiar sounds of larger cats, but not quite. The scales betray that much, but it comes with an echo that is larger than it should be, a repetition just off enough to leak with variation. It makes the crystals on her chest, delicately arranged into a necklace and stitched into her dress like sleet slicked off the fabric, shiver.
"Really?" There comes the fin flick again, a small movement, even as the rest of her remains still. Miranda has a decent grasp on these things β all the fine breeding of her heritage and her upbringing and the long, painful hours put into it, all dedicated to crafting her into a creature of these moments, she likes to imagine, at least. She takes the bait for the joke, slowly turns the adjacent corner of her mouth upwards, just a touch, tries to lighten the mood.
( She's the only one present with scales, but she doesn't mind that so much. She's used to it, by now; it's what she's here for. Making connections, introducing herself, her people, representing something larger than the gesture itself. When all else fails, money talks, and she has more than enough to spare for any idle conversation. )
"Only their loss, then." Her tail shifts to the opposite side, wraps around herself, the legs of the chair. Her voice is low and melodic, deep in a way that reverberates through her body, into the ground around her, tinted slightly with an accent. Miranda still hasn't turned her head to look at him, hasn't even turned her eyes away from where she's gazing into someplace else, but everything about her movements fall into a permafrost stillness. There is enough to suggest this is less a slight and more a mannerism. "Perhaps you could do the honors of such an introduction, if I could request such a thing? Seeing as such a grievous oversight has been made. I do have a decent seat."
