What kills me about Xinjiang is not even that nobody cares, is that nobody even knows what's happening. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out. Journalists and writers and scientists are "mysteriously" dissappearing. People say the Uyghur genocide is West propaganda. I can't even make a proper statement because of how ill-informed I am.
All I'm certain of is that Xinjiang has been shaken by earthquakes since December, every week, sometimes every day. And that's all I know. How do I send help? How do I see damages?
Not only the rest of the world doesn't care about uyghurs, Kazakhstani uyghurs don't care about Xinjiang uyghurs. Kazakhs don't give two shits about Xinjiang uyghurs. They are unreal people somewhere far, far away, and their fate does not concern us. I'm pretty sure no one will care when our fate is decided next :) i don't know what gets us first, genocide or the fucking earthquakes.
I don't feel hopeless. Education is a privilege, and I will use it to learn as much as I can. I do feel hopelessly alone, though.
