Every now and then, I get sad thinking about how Sheila isn't... like... canon to anybody :(
When I rped back in in my old fandom, where everyone was essentially writing in a single universe, there was a real sense of continuity in the community; your character's actions could have a ripple effect on other characters around them, and you could see the effects of your character's actions in your partners' threads with other character, even if your own character wasn't a participant in the thread. Your character's presence was still felt.
But then I went indie, where everyone divvied up their characters' interactions and relationships with others into compartmentalized verses with no overlap... and, well, it's just never been the same :'(
There are tons of characters in Sheila's backstory who live on through her; their presence still reverberates through her even though the characters themselves being long gone
But Sheila isn't canon to anybody in a way that those characters from her backstory are canon to her. She always just exists in some nice little AU or verse sectioned off just for her, easily excised, as if she never existed at all once people get bored of her and move on to other things
Basically, I'm saying that there are and will never be characters who—years from now—talk about Sheila to other characters and reminisce about their time knowing her and tell stories about her the same way she still talks about Nazarov and Jean and Dimitri and Quintin and Riley and others
