Things I did not like about Netflix's Persuasion:

it wasn't Persuasion.

#persuasion 2022 #netflix persuasion #I'm not going to say I hated everything #But I like Captain Harvelle in pretty much every version so that was a low bar #And Richard E Grant was good casting what can I say #But it left the distinct taste in my mouth that someone wanted to adapt Pride and Prejudice and they were forced to do Persuasion instead #It hit all major plot beats like a metronome #but it failed to hit any characterisation or atmosphere beats at all #I don't care about the stylistic stuff #adaptations should be interesting #what's the point in redoing it exactly the same #but you kind of need to get the point of the novel #and this #really didn't
