Shaw radically reworks Ovid’s tale with a feminist twist: while Henry Higgins successfully teaches Eliza Doolittle to speak and act like a duchess, she adamantly refuses to be his creation. This brilliantly witty exposure of the British class system will always entertain—first produced in 1914, it remains one of Shaw’s most popular plays.

Oh wow this sounds awesome! I never saw My Fair Lady but this sounds kind of hilarious. Is it? I hope it is.

I looked it up on Goodreads, and the premise sounds intriguing! I’m actually on a waiting list to check out Tartt’s Goldfinch from my local library. Have you read that one? Apparently a lot of people like her work so I can’t wait to finally read something of hers. Perhaps I’ll have to reserve The Secret History, too!

Definitely Halloween appropriate! I actually have this on my TBR list (to be specific, it’s part of my Reading Classics project). I plan to check it out from the library this month, along with Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Have you read Frankenstein? If so, how did you find it? Thanks for the ask!

The Questions:

1. What or who has been your biggest reading inspiration? I admired Hermione when I was younger, so I guess that she's the one who's had the most impact. I never really had a real life role model when it came to reading.

2. Do you have a fictional boyfriend/girlfriend, and why them? Percy Jackson, of course. You have to look a long time to find someone who's as loyal and witty as him.

3. What is your favourite book cover, out of the books you own? That has to be my Folio Society edition of T.H. White´s The Once and Future King. I like to touch it.

4. Are there any books that you hate or strongly dislike? I'm not too fond of Life of Pi.

5. Do you read poetry, and if so, who is your favourite poet? I read some poetry for school and I've tried Bukowski and Carver, but the poems of Sylvia Plath has to be my favorites.

6. Do you read non-fiction? Yes. I've read a few books on Greek and Roman society and mythology.

7. What are your go-to books when giving people reading recommendations? Depends on the person, but I usually recommend Percy Jackson to people.

8. What is your favourite genre, and has it changed particularly over time? It's always been fantasy, but it dawned on me about three years ago that I wanted to branch out into some other genres as well.

9. What are you planning to read next? I'm going to read Fifty Shades of Grey (which I have started several times, but never been able to finish), because I want to know what I'm talking about when I tell people it's not a good book. And I have to work a lot so I need something quick.

10. Do you have a life motto or catch-phrase? Not really.

That's a difficult one. I guess I'd have to say my mum for always supplying me with books, and my eldest aunty for encouraging my love of the classics; Brian Jacques for fostering in me a love of writing my own stories; Robert Jordan for making me believe I could read anything and everything; finally, Jim Butcher for helping me to discover the urban fantasy genre (my one true love), and making me branch out to find different authors in the hopes of finding a series just as good as his.

2. Do you have a fictional boyfriend/girlfriend, and why them?

I don't really look at a character and think, "Why can't you be my boyfriend or girlfriend?" I'm more interested in how they interact with other characters, and because I feel like an observer I'm more critical of them. Gaaah, boring non-answer. Rachel Morgan from the Hollows series, or maybe Jace from the Shifters series.. Samuel Cornick (Mercedes Thompson series), though.

3. What is your favourite book cover, out of the books you own?

I love my copy of On The Road by Jack Kerouac because I love travel photography (views from various types of transport are so beautiful to me). One of my college projects was me taking pictures from a car at night just because I wanted to be able to capture some of that.. adventure. The cover is also striking because of the vibrant, but hazy colours.

4. Are there any books that you hate or strongly dislike?

The Eragon series. I read the first book and was so disappointed. I was excited that someone so young had gotten a publishing deal, but I just remember thinking that the writing was boring and juvenile.

5. Do you read poetry, and if so, who is your favourite poet?

I haven't read poetry since English Literature class.

6. Do you read non-fiction?

I have dabbled in non-fiction, but not recently.

7. What are your go-to books when giving people reading recommendations?

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, the Shifter series by Rachel Vincent.. Anything by Haruki Murakami, the Gone series by Michael Grant.. bLEACH by Tite Kubo. That manga is my life right now.

8. What is your favourite genre, and has it changed particularly over time?

Urban fantasy, and I may drift away from it from time to time, but I always come crawling back.

9. What are you planning to read next?

I'm re-reading the Maze Runner series, so I can finally read the prequel so I'm just working my way through them. I've just started The Scorch Trials, which means The Death Cure is next.

10. Do you have a life motto or catch-phrase?

Not particularly. I just remind myself to breathe.

11. Do you believe in anything - fate, fairies, a god etc?

I haven’t read Atonement, but I recently watched the movie, and I really enjoyed it and now I really want to read the book because Historical Fiction is my favourite genre. I have also heard really good stuff about Never Let Me Go and I already have it on kindle… I think :S haha! Anyway, I would recommend anything by Ruta Sepetys, In the Shadows of Blackbirds by Cat Winters, and The Other Typist by Suzanne Rindell- Loved this!!
